CAN
WE GO FISHING?
A lot of people ask us if they can fish
in the lakes adjoining our own home
The answer is unofficially its OK but there
are only small fish in those lakes - so we try not to encourage our
guests to fish here
But there's fishing for big time bass in
the larger lakes (Lake Tohopekaglia & East Lake Tohopekaglia - called
Lake Toho & East Lake Toho for short!) near our own Crescent Lakes
home
Don't worry, if you stay in one of our
other homes, the lakes are not far away from you too!
Not only can you fish for bass at these
two lakes but these are where the Boggy Creek Airboat rides are located
(they have two sites)
If your party has only a few fishing enthusiasts
you can send the others for an airboat ride, leaving you in peace to
fish...

WHO
LOOKS AFTER THE HOMES AND WHAT IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG?
All our homes are supervised by a local
management company to ensure that they are kept to the highest standard
and that you have the great vacation you deserve
The company provide a 24 hour emergency
call-out service
In the extremely unlikely event that anything
should go wrong during your vacation, their staff will be available
to try to resolve the problem
The staff will also be happy to answer
any on-site questions you may have
All the homes will be thoroughly cleaned
and inspected prior to your arrival and again after your departure
Pools are regularly maintained and gardens
kept tidy - all you have to do is relax and enjoy your vacation....
But, if you have a problem, please ask!

WHAT
ABOUT OUR SAFETY IN THE HOMES?
Our guests' safety is extremely important
to us...
For your safety, all homes have an alarm
system and smoke detectors as well as a fire extinguisher, emergency
lighting and first aid kit
We also take pool safety very seriously
- please see the next section...
Some homes also have an electronic safe
(available for a nominal additional charge) to ensure that your valuables
do not go astray
All the rental homes are fully licensed
- you will find the licence displayed in every home - for short term
rental and meet all current safety requirements

WHAT
ABOUT THE PRIVATE POOLS?
ALL the homes have a private swimming pool
Swimming pool depths range from about 3'
to 5' and jacuzzis (if provided) are approximately 3'6" deep
Whilst both a pool and jacuzzi can provide
great fun, water can be dangerous for unsupervised infants and children
and they should never be left alone with access to the pool area of
your rental home
To help you with pool safety we have installed
pool door alarms
It is extremely unlikely that your mobile
little ones will be able to open the locks on any of the doors leading
to the pool area
But our pool door alarms will make you
aware that they are in danger - the alarms can only be deactivated by
an adult
It's also unlikely that your little ones
will be able to reach the pool area net screen door handles as these
are intentionally high
But we ask that you maintain strict supervision
of infants and children if your rental home is near unguarded water
areas such as lakes or streams, just as you would do at home

WILL
WE NEED POOL HEATING?
Like you, we're not in charge of the weather...!
Pool heating is available at additional
cost and is recommended for stays between November and April (it's never
compulsory!)
Pool heating can be ordered at any time
of the year, to your choice
In general, a jacuzzi, if provided, cannot
be heated separately from the pool
We cannot guarantee water temperature with
pool heating as this depends on the prevailing weather conditions
If the weather is favourable the pool should
be a minimum of 80F
We need to know in advance if you wish
to order pool heating, for the number of days it is required and when
you wish it to commence - the minimum period is four days
Pool heating is provided by natural gas
in our own home to ensure that the pool heats up with minimal delay
although our other homes may have different methods of pool heating

WHAT'S
THE WEATHER LIKE AND WHEN'S THE BEST TIME TO VISIT?
We're asked a lot about the weather in
Florida
We're also asked when is the best time
to visit
The choice of when to visit really has
more to do with your weather and vacation preferences than ours!
Florida has a tropical climate which means
that all year around it's usually warmer and more sunny there than in
most other places...
Even in the winter, the temperatures are
generally pleasantly warm and it's still sunny!
For our Kissimmee homes
Theme parks are busy in peak season when
airfares and home rental prices are also more expensive
Peak season is Easter, July, August, October
& Christmas/New Year
Florida is generally busy in February for
Presidents' Day, March for spring break and in November for Thanksgiving
If you want to take advantage of lower
airfares, home rental prices and less busy times in the theme parks,
then January, February, May, June, September or early November or December
are great months

Peak season is the same as for our Kissimmee
homes
but ...
did you know that it's also peak season
on the Gulf Coast between Christmas and Easter?
If you can avoid these periods you will
get a lower price home rental

WHAT
IF MY VACATION DATES ARE NOT FLEXIBLE?
We would suggest that you book as early
as you can to avoid disappointment
Whilst we sometimes have late availability
opportunities, these may not fit in with your party size or dates
Our rental homes are extremely popular
and get booked quickly, particularly for peak season, so don't leave
it until later!

ARE
YOUR HOMES SUITABLE FOR THE PHYSICALLY DISABLED?
If a member of your party is physically
disabled, please let us know about their disability so that we can ensure
that you get the correct facilities for their needs
Whilst our single storey homes, including
our own home, are not disabled adapted (ie they do not have specific
bathroom facilities for the disabled) there are minimal entrance/exit
door thresholds (approx 2-3" high) and the doorways are adequate
for an adult size wheelchair
There are a few rental homes which have
disabled adapted bathroom facilities if you require these, but you need
to book a considerable time in advance as they do get booked up quickly
Electric wheelchair and scooter rentals
are available from several local companies who will deliver and collect
them to and from your rental home
If you wish to rent an electric wheelchair
or scooter for disabled members of your party, please let us know and
we will put you in contact with the companies concerned
However, most airlines will carry personal
mechanical wheelchairs free of charge in the cargo hold and there is
help available at airports and on planes - but
please give airlines plenty of advance notice
What about theme parks?
Most of the theme parks have electric or
mechanical wheelchairs available for rental
Unfortunately, these cannot be reserved
in advance and are issued on a first come, first served basis
If someone in your party needs a wheelchair
for your theme park visits, you need to ensure that you get to the park
as soon as it opens to avoid disappointment
Assistance is also generally available
from theme park staff for ride access although some rides may not be
suitable for everyone

DO
WE NEED INSURANCE?
It is vital that you take out comprehensive
travel insurance as soon as you book your holiday and ensure that this
covers cancellation and medical fees, which can be particularly high
in USA
We are now able to supply discount travel
insurance with great compensation benefits for your USA holiday for
our guests from UK so please click on UK Insurance for info
Remember to take your travel insurance
documents with you!
It's a good idea to make a photocopy of
these (& your passport!) and leave the photocopies at home
If anyone in your party is taking any current
prescribed medication, take to the USA with you a note of the name,
strength, dosage, etc
There are local walk-in medical centres
and major hospitals near our rental homes but please ensure that you
take your insurance policy documents and any current medication with
you if you should require treatment

CAN
WE SMOKE IN THE HOMES?
ALL our rental homes are non-smoking
This is to comply with fire regulations,
insurance conditions, the owners' wishes and also to ensure the comfort
of our non-smoking guests, some of whom have allergies
Those guests who wish to smoke may do so
outside the homes only (ie on the patio area) and are requested to dispose
of ash, cigarettes, etc safely and thoughtfully
Some of the theme parks have now introduced
designated smoking areas with the remainder of the parks being non-smoking
Commencing on July 01 2003, there is a
total smoking ban in all public indoor venues, ie restaurants, etc

ABOUT PETS?
We're sorry but none of our homes can accept
pets of any size or type
If you need to bring your pet friend to
Florida with you, we can give you information about pet boarding - please
ask us

After you have paid your final balance,
we will give you access to our comprehensive online Florida info service
and detailed driving directions to our management company
This is where you will collect your home
keys, security alarm code, info pack, detailed driving directions to
your home and discount theme park tickets if you have pre-ordered these
If you're staying at our own home, you
don't need to drive to the management company office on arrival as we
will provide you with complete instructions
Our comprehensive online info will also
be made available to you at this time - you can choose how much or little
you need
